Job Title
System Hardware Design Engineer / IP Architect
Role Summary
Senior engineering role in the Security Architecture team within the Security IP group. You will define, architect, specify and implement digital hardware security IP cores and processor-based subsystems, working closely with software, security experts, customers, and cross-functional teams.
Primary mission: deliver secure, production-quality hardware IP and subsystems that meet customer and standards requirements and accelerate time-to-market.
Experience Level
Senior β requires well over 8 years of relevant experience and demonstrated system-level IP development expertise.
Responsibilities
Accountabilities include architecture, design, delivery and customer engagement for security IP and subsystems.
- Architect, specify and implement digital hardware security IP cores and complex subsystems in Verilog RTL.
- Define embedded HW/SW solutions and perform functional partitioning between hardware and software.
- Produce technical product specifications, documentation and product collateral.
- Engage with customers to gather use cases and translate requirements into IP solutions.
- Lead feature development: hands-on design and integration to meet customer and standards requirements.
- Guide and mentor the development team: code reviews, quality and security-focused practices.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed separately.
- Extensive practical experience in digital hardware design and verification, including RTL implementation in Verilog.
- Strong knowledge of AMBA-based infrastructures and IC design flows.
- Proven experience designing hardware IP, including driver-level software integration and requirements management.
- Experience with processor-based subsystems and functional partitioning between HW and SW.
- Ability to create clear technical product specifications and translate them into implementations.
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging and communication skills; experience mentoring engineers and working cross-functionally.
- Nice-to-have: modern verification techniques (SystemVerilog/UVM), formal verification, and experience with tools/processes such as Jama/DOORS.
- Nice-to-have: scripting and automation experience (Perl, JavaScript, Tcl, Linux shell).
- Nice-to-have: knowledge of security architectures and cryptographic protocols.
Education Requirements
PhD or advanced MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is specified; equivalent extensive practical experience implied by the seniority and "extensive relevant experience" language.
