Senior Hardware Acceleration Efficiency Architect
Role Summary
Owner for improving performance, utilization, and availability of Arm's emulation and FPGA hardware-acceleration infrastructure. Work across emulation, FPGA, scheduling, operations, and EDA vendor integrations to increase platform throughput and engineering productivity at scale.
Experience Level
Senior β requires demonstrated experience; posting specifies a minimum of 5 years in hardware emulation and FPGA environments.
Responsibilities
Responsible for measuring, diagnosing, and improving throughput, availability, and resource efficiency for emulation and FPGA platforms.
- Benchmark and profile emulation and FPGA workloads to establish baselines and measure improvements.
- Optimize scheduling, queuing, and recovery mechanisms to improve system availability and job throughput.
- Integrate with EDA vendor APIs/SDKs to automate resource management and job orchestration.
- Collaborate with the in-house scheduler team to enhance scheduling intelligence and resource allocation.
- Build data pipelines and dashboards to visualize trends, detect inefficiencies, and guide tuning.
- Drive continuous improvement through automation, workflow optimization, and vendor partnerships.
- Validate and deploy performance enhancements with EDA tool vendors in production workloads.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience to perform the role.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in hardware emulation and FPGA environments.
- Proven ability to benchmark, profile, and interpret emulation performance data.
- Experience integrating vendor APIs or SDKs into automation or monitoring solutions.
- Familiarity with scheduler design and scheduler integration for large workloads.
- Proficiency in Linux and scripting for automation and analysis (Python, Bash).
- Data-driven approach to performance validation and strong analytical problem solving.
- Familiarity with metrics/monitoring frameworks such as Prometheus and Grafana.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience building workflow orchestration or monitoring tools for large-scale verification.
- Exposure to cloud-hosted emulation or elastic compute models.
- Knowledge of EDA tool internals and licensing mechanisms; experience collaborating with EDA vendors.
