Role Summary

Join the LS-SWIFT division to develop next-generation DUV lasers for wafer inspection. The role focuses on systems engineering across design, prototyping, integration, testing and product introduction within a multi-disciplinary team.

Primary mission is to ensure system-level requirements are met for cost, functionality and performance by validating prototypes, analyzing test data, and supporting product introduction.

Mid-level — expects demonstrated systems engineering experience and ownership of development projects; no specific years listed.

Responsibilities

Deliver system-level design, verification, and support throughout the product lifecycle.

• Interpret market requirements and allocate system budgets and specifications to meet targets.
• Develop product concepts on the bench to prove feasibility and mitigate technical risks.
• Plan and perform experiments to validate prototypes; analyze results and report conclusions.
• Integrate and test DUV lasers: build and align lasers and design test benches for qualification.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define, guide, and implement designs.
• Support product introduction by training operations/field personnel and creating procedures and checklists.
• Provide clear, actionable feedback at design reviews and produce concise technical reports.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items noted.

• Hands-on experience aligning, debugging, and characterizing lasers or other optical systems; experience with DUV lasers is a plus.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills in optics, opto-mechanics, and motion control systems.
• Experience driving projects through concept, design, prototyping, testing/integration, troubleshooting, and risk management.
• Programming skills for data collection and analysis (Python, MATLAB, JMP, or LabVIEW).
• Proven record of completing projects that meet stated requirements.
• Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills; able to produce executive-level summaries.

Education Requirements

PhD in applied optics, physics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or related fields preferred. A strong background in engineering or physical science is required; equivalent practical experience in relevant technical domains is acceptable.
