Job Title
System & Architecture Engineer
Role Summary
Design and develop DSP algorithms, system models, and supporting physical systems for high-speed serial link and communication products. Translate algorithmic models into hardware implementations and work across architecture, RTL, and validation teams to meet power, performance, and area targets.
Provide technical leadership, influence product roadmaps and standards, and mentor other engineers.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 8+ years of relevant experience in ASIC mixed-signal architecture, design, and development.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include algorithm development, system modeling, implementation, validation, and cross-functional collaboration:
- Design, code, and test DSP algorithms, system models, and prototypes; tune and validate algorithm blocks.
- Develop physical system architectures to support DSP implementations, including RTL primitives and subsystems.
- Optimize implementations for power, performance, and area across product stages.
- Run simulations with Matlab/Simulink and other tools; perform trade-offs and performance analysis.
- Develop validation plans, write test scripts, and perform post-silicon validation and debugging.
- Collaborate with digital architects to translate models to hardware and define system/component requirements.
- Research and adopt ML/AI techniques to improve performance and user experience; engage with standards bodies as needed.
- Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and help define technical roadmaps.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- 8+ years in ASIC mixed-signal architecture, design, and development.
- Proven SerDes and PHY design experience.
- Hands-on experience with system modeling and DSP algorithm development (Matlab, Simulink).
- Experience implementing DSP primitives/subsystems in RTL and optimizing serial link chip implementations for power, performance, and area.
- Familiarity with communication standards such as Ethernet, OIF, PCIe.
- Post-silicon validation and debugging experience.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and collaboration skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Analog/mixed-signal design or digital communications background.
- Experience applying machine learning/AI to systems or algorithms.
- Experience contributing to industry standards and mentoring technical teams.
Education Requirements
B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
