System Architect (USB Power)
Role Summary
As System Architect for USB Power, you will define product roadmaps and system architectures for USB Power Delivery and related power-management solutions. You will engage customers, perform competitive analysis, and lead cross-functional teams (design, test, applications, marketing) to deliver product specifications, reference designs, demos, and documentation.
This role translates market and customer requirements into product features and ensures successful product launches and design-ins.
Experience Level
Senior — 15+ years of relevant experience in roadmap generation, product specification, system engineering, and customer engagements.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include product definition, customer engagement, and technical leadership across development and launch.
- Define and maintain USB Power product and solutions roadmap based on market and application trends.
- Translate customer requirements into product specifications and value propositions; engage with customers for deep requirements gathering.
- Perform competitive technical analysis and benchmarking.
- Collaborate with design, test, applications, and marketing teams to develop and launch products on schedule.
- Produce technical documentation: product specs, datasheets, white papers, presentations, application notes, and demos.
- Oversee development of reference circuits and demonstration boards.
- Provide technical support and guidance for complex customer issues to secure design-ins.
- Deliver application support and technical training to customers and field engineers; support marketing and customer engagement activities.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Deep knowledge of USB Power Delivery specifications, USB Type‑C, battery charging standards, wireless charging technologies, and power-management architectures.
- Proven experience in product management: roadmap generation, feature trade-off analysis, market surveys, and early customer engagement.
- Hands-on lab validation and test automation experience; proficient with oscilloscopes, power meters, waveform generators, logic analyzers, and similar equipment.
- Experience with PCB design and simulation techniques, including practical understanding of PCB materials and stack‑ups.
- Strong troubleshooting and lab-debugging skills to resolve customer issues.
- Analytical skills to assess market data and identify product opportunities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with mobile, automotive, and embedded/IoT system designs.
Education Requirements
Required: BSEE in Electronics or Electrical Engineering. Preferred: MSEE. Fields: electronics/electrical engineering or closely related technical disciplines.
