Job Title

SW Developer - Microcontrollers

Role Summary

Embedded software engineer responsible for developing firmware, device drivers, and SDK/RTOS support for NXP microcontrollers. The role involves board bring-up, low-level debugging, and collaborating with hardware and software teams in the Brno and Rožnov R&D centers.

Primary objective: deliver reliable low-level software, enable hardware integration, and contribute upstream to MCUXpresso SDK and Zephyr RTOS.

Experience Level

Mid-level. No explicit years-of-experience stated; position expects independent ownership and growing technical responsibility.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include firmware development, system bring-up, and upstream open-source contributions.

  • Implement drivers, subsystems, and middleware in C for microcontroller devices.
  • Add and maintain Zephyr support: device tree, DTS bindings, Kconfig.
  • Bring up boards and SoCs (clock, pinmux, power, boot, memory maps) and write samples/tests.
  • Contribute upstream via PRs, reviews, RFCs, and CI fixes.
  • Diagnose low-level issues using debuggers, traces, and logic analyzers.
  • Work closely with hardware and cross-functional software teams to integrate and validate features.

Requirements

Must-have technical competencies and preferred additional skills.

  • Must-have:
    • Practical embedded C programming experience and comfort working close to hardware.
    • Solid understanding of microcontroller architecture fundamentals.
    • Reliable low-level debugging skills on embedded targets.
    • Familiarity with standard development workflows and version control (GIT).
    • Effective English communication (written and spoken).
    • Structured, ownership-driven approach, good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Nice-to-have:
    • Experience with MCUXpresso or similar silicon vendor ecosystems.
    • Zephyr RTOS experience (device tree, Kconfig, west).
    • Experience with MCU interfaces: SPI, I2C, UART, I2S, SDIO.
    • RTOS development/testing experience for microcontrollers.
    • Knowledge of Rust, Python scripting, and build tools such as make.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
