Role Summary
Internship on AMD's hardware design verification team supporting verification and testing of high-end machine intelligence products. The role reports to senior engineers and contributes to simulation, verification flows, and system-level validation.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship (student/co-op). Intended for current university students; typical for undergraduates.
Responsibilities
Work with the verification team to build, run, and improve verification activities and system validation.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to develop and execute performance verification test plans and simulation test cases.
- Write and maintain scripts for test automation and resource tracking (Perl, Python, shell).
- Support test regression flows involving scripting and databases (Perl/Python/MySQL/PHP).
- Debug and improve simulation test cases, models, and HDL code (Verilog/SystemVerilog).
- Build and use test platforms to perform system-level and production validation testing.
- Evaluate tools and processes to improve simulation performance and team efficiency.

Key requirements and desirable skills for successful candidates.
- Must-have: Available full-time (37.5 hrs/week) for the full co-op/intern term and able to work onsite or hybrid in Markham, ON.
- Must-have: Strong fundamentals in digital systems and computer organization; basics of logic design (FSMs, timing, registers, flops).
- Preferred / Nice-to-have: Experience with scripting and programming (Python, Perl, C, C++, shell).
- Preferred / Nice-to-have: Experience or familiarity with Verilog/SystemVerilog and UVM.
- Preferred / Nice-to-have: Development and debugging experience in Linux/Unix/Windows environments and system-level hardware/software integration.
- Preferred / Nice-to-have: Familiarity with building PCs, basic network configuration, and GPU/CPU/APU hardware concepts.
- Preferred / Nice-to-have: Basic understanding of transistor/device behavior.
Education Requirements
Currently enrolled in a Canada-based university in a Bachelor's degree program (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field).
