Static Timing Analysis Design Engineer / Physical Design
NXP SemiconductorsJob Title
Static Timing Analysis Design Engineer / Physical Design
Role Summary
Owner for end-to-end Static Timing Analysis (STA) and timing constraints for advanced SoC products. Responsible for initial constraints development, timing correlation, debugging failing timing paths, and driving timing signoff through final closure.
The role partners with frontend, IP, DFT and implementation teams and supports post-silicon bring-up and production ramp activities.
Experience Level
Mid-level - typically 3β6 years of ASIC/SoC timing analysis experience.
Responsibilities
Deliver STA and constraints across design stages and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve timing closure.
- Create, validate, and maintain timing constraints for complex SoC designs.
- Perform timing correlation and path debug from synthesis through timing signoff.
- Work with frontend, IP, DFT, and implementation owners to resolve timing issues.
- Generate automated and manual timing ECOs and provide timing fixes to implementation teams.
- Provide timing feedback throughout design stages and during post-silicon bring-up.
- Contribute to team development and mentor junior engineers.
- Recommend and implement methodology improvements to improve scalability and productivity.
Requirements
Key technical skills and experience required and preferred.
- Must-have: Strong knowledge of STA and signoff methodologies.
- Must-have: Experience with industry STA tools and Synopsys flows.
- Must-have: Expertise in timing ECO generation (automated and manual) and constraints development/validation.
- Must-have: Scripting experience in Python, TCL, and Perl.
- Must-have: Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with advanced-node implementation (β€16nm / 5nm).
- Nice-to-have: Exposure to AI-driven design methodologies and use of AI to generate scripts.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with high-reliability SoCs and production ramp support.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or a related technical field.
