Standard Cell Layout Design Engineer

Role Summary

The Standard Cell Layout Design Engineer will join Qualcomm's Standard Cell Design team to develop high-quality intellectual property for advanced semiconductor technology nodes. The role involves creating efficient physical layout designs and offers opportunities for professional growth in leading-edge design practices.

Experience Level

Mid-level, with a recommended experience range of 2 to 8+ years.

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Designing and developing physical layouts for logic standard cells using CAD tools such as Cadence Virtuoso.
  • Utilizing scripting languages like SKILL and Python for layout automation and optimization.
  • Conducting layout verification, including DRC, LVS, and ERC.
  • Collaborating with circuit designers to meet performance and reliability requirements.
  • Managing layout databases with Design Management software.
  • Communicating design status and tracking schedules effectively.
  • Identifying and resolving layout-related issues independently.
  • Working with a globally distributed team across the United States, Taiwan, and India.

Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Must-have:
    • Associate’s degree or technical certificate in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
    • Foundational understanding of CMOS technology and IC design principles.
    • Strong attention to detail and teamwork skills.
  • Nice-to-have:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
    • Familiarity with parasitic effects and reliability in IC designs.
    • Exposure to advanced semiconductor process technologies.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field is preferred.
