Role Summary

The Standard Cell Design Engineer role involves working within the Foundry IP Development team in Bangalore, collaborating with global engineering teams to develop layouts for standard cell IP aimed at meeting high-quality standards based on GlobalFoundries' advanced process nodes.

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities include:

  • Develop product-grade Standard Cell IP, covering Circuit Design, Characterization, View generation, and Validation phases.
  • Design and optimize combinational and sequential cells for various topology options.
  • Design and optimize Power Management Kit cells including Level Shifters, Power Gating, Isolation, and Always-on Cells.
  • Perform PPA trade-off analysis across different cell topologies/architectures.
  • Design custom cells to meet specific low power or high-speed design requirements.
  • Collaborate with layout engineers on schematic, layout design, and circuit topology exploration.
  • Conduct characterization, view generation, and validation of standard cell libraries across multiple PVT corners.
  • Implement innovative solutions in the Standard Cell domain that align with GlobalFoundries’ business needs.
  • Contribute as a team player, taking initiatives toward productivity improvements and innovation.
  • Sign off and release dedicated IP validation test chips.

Requirements

Mandatory qualifications include:

  • MS/M-Tech in Electrical/Electronics Engineering with 4 years of relevant experience, or PhD in Electronics/Electrical/VLSI.
  • Hands-on experience in standard cell circuit design and characterization.
  • Experience working on standard cell libraries for various process nodes, especially deep submicron, FinFET, and SOI.
  • Proficiency in EDA tools, particularly from Synopsys, Mentor, and Cadence.
  • Good knowledge of device physics and basic understanding of standard cell layout design.
  • Basic understanding of fabrication steps and flow.

Education Requirements

MS/M-Tech in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or PhD in Electronics/Electrical/VLSI related fields.
