Staff Verification Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Staff Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Join Qualcomm's hardware verification team to design and execute system-level verification for mobile and compute SoCs. The role focuses on building verification environments, creating test plans and benches, debugging complex SoC subsystems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet performance and quality goals.
Experience Level
Senior level - the posting specifies 7+ years of hands-on experience in SoC design verification.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include architecture and execution of SoC verification activities across IP, subsystem, and full-chip levels.
- Design and implement verification environments and testbenches (SoC, subsystem, IP/core).
- Develop assertions, directed and constrained-random tests, and verification plans.
- Perform debug, root-cause analysis, and waveform investigation for complex failures.
- Execute power-aware verification and boot-flow/system-level validation.
- Support gate-level simulation and post-silicon bring-up collaboration as needed.
- Work with cross-functional teams (architecture, firmware, bring-up) to close verification gaps and ensure coverage.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for this position.
- 7+ years of hands-on SoC design verification experience.
- Proficiency in Verilog, SystemVerilog, UVM, SVA, and PSS.
- Experience building SoC-level testbench architecture, test development, and test plan creation.
- Practical knowledge of CPU architectures (RISC-V, ARM), interconnect/NoC concepts, and system-level verification challenges.
- Experience with protocols and interfaces such as PCIe Gen5/6, USB 3.x/4, LPDDR4/5, QUP, eMMC, SD, UFS, AXI, AHB, CHI.
- Familiarity with power management concepts and power-aware verification methodologies.
- Exposure to gate-level simulation (GLS) and experience with waveform debugging tools (for example, Verdi).
- Scripting for automation using Python, Perl, TCL, or Bash.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with DDR and multimedia subsystems, CPU validation, peripherals, and boot-flow verification.
- Prior experience in large-scale SoC projects and power-aware simulation methodologies.
Education Requirements
Minimum qualifications specify one of the following: Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field, with corresponding experience expectations (BSc + 3+ years; MSc + 2+ years; PhD + 1+ year).
