Staff Verification Engineer — DesignWare IP (High-Speed Protocols / PCIe)

Role Summary

Develop and maintain production-grade verification environments for DesignWare IP connectivity cores, with primary focus on PCIe and other high-speed protocols. Work within the DesignWare IP Verification R&D team to ensure protocol compliance, functional correctness, and coverage closure across unit and system integration levels.

Deliver reusable verification components and infrastructure that enable global R&D teams to ship reliable IP for data center, enterprise, and automotive systems.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 5+ years of ASIC/IP verification experience (or 3+ years with a Master's degree).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Design and implement SystemVerilog testbenches and UVM-based verification environments (architecture, stimulus, checkers, coverage).
• Develop and execute test plans for PCIe and other high-speed protocol scenarios, including system integration tests.
• Build, run, and debug complex UVM testcases; reproduce and root-cause issues with RTL teams and provide clear verification metrics.
• Drive functional coverage closure and maintain regression suites using industry simulators (VCS, NC, MTI).
• Automate verification flows and regressions using scripting (Python, Perl, TCL) to improve efficiency.
• Mentor junior verification engineers and contribute reusable verification infrastructure and best practices.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

• Hands-on experience developing SystemVerilog verification environments and testbenches from scratch.
• Proficiency with UVM, OVM, or VMM methodologies and coverage-driven verification.
• Strong protocol-level debugging skills and practical experience validating PCIe implementations.
• Experience with industry-standard simulators such as VCS, NC, or MTI.
• Proficiency with scripting for automation (Python, Perl, or TCL).
• Ability to collaborate with RTL designers to reproduce, isolate, and resolve functional issues.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with MIPI-I3C, UFS, AMBA, Ethernet, DDR, or USB.
• Prior IP verification experience in automotive or enterprise systems.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering with 5+ years of verification experience, or a Master's degree with 3+ years of verification experience. Fields of study cited: Electrical/Electronics Engineering. (Equivalent technical degrees or relevant practical experience may be considered.)
