Staff Verification Engineer, Compute Subsystems
Role Summary
Work on Qualcomm's AI hardware team to plan and execute integration verification for multimedia and compute subsystems. Collaborate with architects, designers, and verification leads to validate features, performance, and low-power behavior of ML hardware.
Experience Level
Senior - typically requires 5+ years of ASIC design, verification, or related experience; expected to work independently and mentor junior engineers.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include driving subsystem verification strategy, building verification infrastructure, and executing regressions to ensure design quality.
- Define integration verification strategy and test plans for multimedia and compute subsystems.
- Implement verification environments using UVM and SystemVerilog.
- Develop and run directed tests and automated regressions; debug failures and track issues to closure.
- Develop C reference models and interpret performance checks to identify issues.
- Perform RTL code coverage, assertion coverage, functional coverage, and gate-level simulations.
- Apply power-aware verification techniques to validate low-power design features.
- Communicate status and deviations to leads and coordinate fixes across teams.
- Identify and drive productivity and methodology improvements for verification flows.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.
- Thorough understanding of digital design concepts.
- Strong UVM and SystemVerilog skills; experience building monitors, scoreboards, sequencers, and sequences.
- Familiarity with bus protocols such as AHB and AXI.
- Perl and Python scripting for testbench automation and parsing.
- Experience analyzing coverage, enabling debug, and validating builds.
- Experience with RTL and gate-level simulation and coverage analysis.
- Ability to write clear tests and regressions and mentor junior engineers.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field plus 4+ years of ASIC design/verification/validation/integration experience; OR Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field plus 3+ years; OR PhD in Science, Engineering, or related field plus 2+ years.
