Job Title

Staff Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Lead verification activities for complex IP and subsystem developments within Arm's Solution Engineering division. Drive verification strategy, own verification deliverables and signoff criteria, and coordinate with architecture, RTL design, and verification teams to deliver high-quality Arm-based IP for SoCs.

Salary: £97,300 - £131,700 per year.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The role requires significant prior experience in IP, subsystem or SoC verification; the posting does not specify an exact years-of-experience threshold.

Responsibilities

Lead and execute verification activities from planning through signoff. Provide technical leadership and improve verification infrastructure and processes.

  • Lead verification for complex IP and subsystem developments from planning through signoff.
  • Collaborate with architects and RTL designers to interpret specifications and verification requirements.
  • Define verification strategies and drive their implementation across the project team.
  • Develop and enhance verification environments: stimulus generation, checkers, scoreboards, coverage models, and reusable infrastructure.
  • Own verification plans, test plans, coverage models and signoff criteria.
  • Drive functional and code coverage closure and ensure verification completeness.
  • Lead debug of complex design and verification issues and coordinate resolution across teams.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to verification engineers on the project.
  • Contribute to methodology improvements and reusable verification components across the organisation.
  • Work effectively with globally distributed engineering teams to deliver objectives.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience required to perform the role; followed by preferred (nice-to-have) skills.

Must-have

  • Significant experience in IP, subsystem or SoC verification.
  • Extensive experience with SystemVerilog and UVM or other industry-standard verification methodologies.
  • Experience developing constrained-random verification environments and reusable verification components.
  • Proven experience defining verification strategies, plans and coverage-closure approaches.
  • Good understanding of the full verification lifecycle from requirements analysis through signoff.
  • Experience leading verification activities for complex projects or major functional areas.
  • Familiarity with SoC verification, including software-driven verification flows.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl or similar.
  • Strong debugging, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication, collaboration and technical leadership skills.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with Arm-based designs and Arm system architectures.
  • Familiarity with AMBA protocols (CHI, AXI, AHB, APB).
  • Experience with JTAG/SWD/TAP-based debug infrastructures.
  • Experience with CDC, reset-domain crossing and power-aware verification (UPF/CPF).
  • Exposure to low-power design techniques, DFT (scan, MBIST) and formal verification techniques.
  • Contributions to verification methodologies, frameworks or reusable infrastructure used across projects.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related field.
