Staff Test Operations Engineer
Role Summary
Provide Test Operations and Engineering support for post-manufacturing products, driving cost reduction, improved OEE, yield and cycle time across internal test manufacturing sites and outsourced suppliers in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and other Asian locations. Reports to the Operations Engineering Department.
Collaborate with product groups and cross-functional teams to ensure test capacity, transfers from New Product Introduction to High Volume Manufacturing, and continuous process improvements.
Experience Level
Senior — preferable >7 years experience in high-volume semiconductor test manufacturing or test product engineering.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include operating and improving test operations, coordinating transfers and capacity, and deploying test technologies.
- Serve as the test operations interface to product groups and cross-functional teams across regions.
- Manage daily test operations with internal factories and OSATs: lot tracking and dispositions, test program releases, hardware troubleshooting and repairs, equipment uptime, and tester utilization/OEE tracking.
- Coordinate probe and final test transfer from New Product Introduction to High Volume Manufacturing.
- Plan and execute test capacity expansions (tester, handler, hardware) to meet production demand.
- Deploy new tester/handler technologies and test solutions to manufacturing sites.
- Implement best practices and standardized processes at test sites.
- Lead initiatives to improve gross margins through OEE, yield and retest reductions.
- Manage projects and coordinate suppliers to meet delivery and quality objectives.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed separately.
- Preferable >7 years experience in semiconductor test operations or test product engineering in high-volume manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of analog, digital and power product test methodology, failure analysis and reliability testing.
- Experience with major ATE platforms such as Teradyne (ETS364/Flex/ETS800), Advantest 93k, SPEA and Cohu, and common tester, handler and prober platforms.
- Proven problem-solving methods (8D, Why-Why Analysis) for process and manufacturing issues.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and project management skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with power module testing.
- Experience with Visual Basic or C++ programming.
- Proficiency with statistical analysis tools (JMP, Spotfire, etc.).
Education Requirements
Minimum bachelors degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computing or a related engineering discipline.
