Staff Test Engineer
Role Summary
This role directs and coordinates test engineering activities for electronic products and systems in a production environment. The staff test engineer leads test hardware and software development, equipment installation/calibration, test data analysis, and cross-functional problem resolution to support manufacturing yield and product quality.
Works within Production Engineering to verify equipment integration, maintain process documentation, and train floor test personnel.
Experience Level
Senior — minimum 8 years of related experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Direct and coordinate design, fabrication and operation of test apparatus, test control systems, and testing processes.
- Develop, procure, install, calibrate and maintain test instruments and control devices.
- Analyze and interpret test data; prepare technical reports for engineering and management.
- Perform root-cause analysis on test yield issues and lead corrective action implementation and monitoring.
- Perform and support equipment verification and integration in production; maintain and update process documentation.
- Train and instruct test technicians and operators on test hardware, software and troubleshooting techniques.
- Evaluate and recommend new test technologies, procedures and tooling; define test conditions and sequences.
Requirements
Must-have:
- Proven expertise in test engineering including ICT, FCT, IC programming, PCBA testing and tester troubleshooting.
- Experience with test equipment verification, calibration, integration and sustaining in production environments.
- Strong skills in data analysis, test reporting and documenting test processes.
- Demonstrated ability to lead root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve yield.
- Experience training and supporting floor test technicians and operators.
- Familiarity with software and hardware tools used for automated testing and test data collection.
