Staff Test Engineer
ArmJob Title
Staff Test Engineer
Role Summary
Lead ATE test enablement, first-silicon bring-up, characterization, and production release for complex SoCs using Advantest 93K and SmarTest. Responsible for test architecture, scalable production execution, and cross-functional coordination across Design, DFT, Product Engineering, vendors, and OSATs.
This role focuses on wafer sort, final test, SLT, OSAT release and HVM readiness. No relocation package is available for this position.
Experience Level
Senior - requires 8+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing and test, silicon bring-up, or production release.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include ownership of ATE strategy, first-silicon bring-up, characterization, and driving manufacturing readiness through volume production.
- Own ATE test enablement: tester configuration, SmarTest program structure, test flow development, datalogging, and manufacturing readiness.
- Lead first-silicon bring-up on ATE: issue triage, silicon/ATE debug, daily reporting, characterization, and handoff to production test stages.
- Define and execute ATE characterization plans across voltage, frequency, temperature, process, HSIO margins, structural coverage, binning, and guardbands.
- Develop and maintain test methods, flows, revision control, pattern conversion, and production test content for functional, HSIO, ATPG/Scan, MBIST, PHY BIST, DC, leakage, and IDDQ tests.
- Coordinate ATE hardware and test-fixture development with vendors and OSATs: probe cards, load boards, sockets, thermal control, HSIO connectivity, and signal integrity.
- Collaborate with Design, DFT, Firmware, Product Engineering, third-party teams, ATE suppliers, and OSATs to debug issues, close coverage gaps, and deliver production-ready solutions on schedule.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.
- 8+ years in semiconductor manufacturing, ATE development, silicon bring-up, characterization, or production release for complex SoCs, CPUs, AI accelerators, or chiplet-based devices.
- Expert hands-on experience with Advantest 93K and SmarTest (SmarTest 7/8): test program development, tester hardware, digital patterns, and production integration.
- Deep knowledge of test architecture and HSIO test/debug (PCIe, UCIe, DDR, SerDes), bench-to-ATE correlation, and production margining.
- Experience with functional testing, structural test integration, DFT concepts, PHY BIST, and manufacturing/HVM release requirements.
- Proven ability to lead end-to-end project execution from architecture through first-silicon bring-up, CP/FT deployment, OSAT release, and production ramp.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and debugging capability across silicon, ATE hardware, SmarTest software, patterns, firmware, package/board design, and manufacturing flows.
Education Requirements
