Role Summary

Responsible for ensuring testability and manufacturability of optical components (lasers and ELS) from device feasibility through production ramp. Works with R&D, test engineering, operations and external suppliers to develop automated test systems, release test strategies to factory, and drive yield, cost, and quality improvements.

Experience Level

Senior-level - requires 7+ years of experience in test engineering, automation, or software development in a hardware environment.

Responsibilities

Key duties include designing and deploying production test systems, debugging test methodologies, and leading yield-improvement activities.

• Define and develop automated test systems for high-volume production with R&D, TE, operations, and suppliers.
• Develop, implement, and release test strategies, processes, and tools for optical components (CW lasers, ELS) to meet speed, scale, cost, and quality targets.
• Perform statistical data analysis and correlate test data with fab inline process to identify root causes and improve yield.
• Identify and lead initiatives for test automation, process improvements, reduced test time/cost, and yield enhancement.
• Lead troubleshooting and failure analysis activities in coordination with suppliers and operations to meet tester uptime/utilization goals.
• Develop and debug complex software programs and EDA tools for process and test equipment.
• Travel to suppliers or sites as required.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, experience, and behaviors.

• 7+ years in test engineering, automation, or software development in a hardware environment.
• Strong programming fundamentals; experience developing automation and analytics applications.
• Hands-on experience with instruments, motion systems, fiber/cabling, and signal troubleshooting.
• Practical knowledge of Gage R&R, correlation, test coverage, and qualification methodologies.
• Data-driven analytical mindset and ability to interpret test results to drive yield improvements.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and own problems through to solution and execution.
• Strong communication skills; adept at hosting effective meetings and facilitating actions.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with semiconductor lasers (edge-emitting or VCSEL), photonics packaging, photodetectors, driver ICs, LEDs, or optical components (lenses, diffusers, DOEs).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Information, or another relevant major.
