Job Title

Staff System Test Engineer

Role Summary

Work within the Wireless Battery Management System (BMS) team in Limerick to lead systems verification of automotive wireless BMS products. The role focuses on designing and executing system-level tests to validate functional correctness, resilience, and compliance across the product lifecycle.

Collaborate closely with hardware, embedded software, system architecture, applications and quality teams to drive ASPICE-compliant verification activities.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include system-level verification planning, test execution, automation and cross-functional defect resolution.

  • Develop test strategies and system-level test plans from requirements and specifications.
  • Design, implement and maintain automated test frameworks, test harnesses and measurement setups for hardware and firmware validation.
  • Execute verification tests (functional, regression, robustness) across the product lifecycle and document results.
  • Integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines and regression systems.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues and coordinate fixes with design teams.
  • Work within an ASPICE-compliant process and coordinate with quality and architecture teams.
  • Report test status, metrics and risks to stakeholders.
  • Support field activities and testing as required; travel up to 10%.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, process experience and personal attributes required for the role.

  • Systems engineering or formal testing experience on complex systems, ideally automotive.
  • System development or system test experience within an ASPICE model.
  • Embedded C/C++ and Python or another scripting language.
  • Hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting skills and automated hardware validation experience.
  • Experience with test tools and frameworks, CI/CD pipelines (for example Jenkins, GitLab) and revision control systems (Git/GitHub).
  • Experience with regression testing and test automation best practices.
  • Strong communication, documentation and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and able to work in fast learning environments.

Nice-to-have:

  • Exposure to OTA update security testing, secure bootloaders and firmware signing.
  • Background in automated software and system verification.
  • Experience in wireless networking or RF.
  • Experience with requirements management tools (JAMA, DOORS) and verification of functionally safe products.

Education Requirements

Minimum Bachelor's degree (BSc or BEng) in Electronic or Computer Engineering. Master’s degrees cited (MSEE or MSCE). Nice-to-have certification: ISTQB Foundation Level.
