Staff SW Applications Engineer

Role Summary

Design, develop, test and deliver embedded software applications and integration support for customers using Renesas Bluetooth Smart chips. The role supports customer integration and accelerates product adoption while ensuring delivered software quality.

Product-focused position on the applications team based in Athens or Patras, involving customer-facing support, technical guidance, and mentoring of junior engineers.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 8–10+ years of relevant embedded software engineering experience (see Education Requirements for degree guidance).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include customer-facing support, software development, and feedback to product teams.

• Provide technical customer support and on-site assistance, including travel to customer premises.
• Integrate and validate software on customer platforms and ensure delivered software quality.
• Develop software examples, evaluation platforms, drivers, and integration guides for customers.
• Document software with appropriate version management and maintain release artifacts.
• Create and deliver demonstration/evaluation vehicles and reference applications.
• Monitor customer developments and provide feedback to the development team.
• Mentor, coach, and supervise technical tasks of junior team members.

Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience in embedded software development, including coding and testing best practices.
• Strong system-level understanding of software and hardware integration.
• Proven ability to prioritize work, set goals, and meet deadlines for self and others.
• Strong customer interaction and communication skills, with good written and verbal presentation abilities.
• Experience producing integration guides, documentation, and evaluation platforms.
• Leadership skills with experience mentoring and supervising junior engineers.
• Desirable: Bluetooth protocol knowledge and experience with ARM Cortex-M development; multi-disciplinary focus across digital hardware and embedded software.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree (Bachelor level) with approximately 10+ years of embedded software experience, or an academic/advanced degree with approximately 8+ years of experience. Equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
