Staff STPG NAND Product Development Engineer
Micron TechnologyJob Title
Staff STPG NAND Product Development Engineer
Role Summary
The Staff Engineer in the System and Technology Product Group (STPG) leads pre- and post-silicon validation and characterization for NAND test chip vehicle (TCV) programs. The role drives simulation-to-silicon correlation, root-cause analysis, and technical learning to inform design, process, and test decisions.
Experience Level
Senior-level engineer (Staff). Senior technical responsibility and independent ownership of complex problems; significant prior industry experience expected.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on ensuring tape-out readiness, extracting technology learning from silicon, and influencing cross-functional decisions through data-driven analysis.
- Own pre-silicon validation, simulation coverage, regression development, and correlation for TCV programs.
- Analyze simulation results to identify architecture, device, performance, and margin sensitivities affecting tape-out readiness.
- Lead post-silicon validation, characterization, debug, and silicon learning activities for TCV devices.
- Drive root-cause analysis of silicon anomalies and separate design, process, modeling, and test-related issues.
- Define test modes, patterns, stress conditions, and characterization methodologies to maximize learning and data quality.
- Collaborate with Design, Technology Development, Process Integration, Test, and Test Solutions Engineering to improve probe code, test flows, and characterization strategies.
- Develop technical documentation, reusable methodologies, and best practices; mentor junior engineers.
- Integrate AI-assisted tools and analytics into workflows to improve efficiency and insight while following organizational and legal guidelines.
Requirements
Must-have technical and interpersonal skills for day-to-day success. Education requirements are listed separately below.
- Proven experience in both pre-silicon simulation/regression ownership and post-silicon validation for complex semiconductor designs.
- Strong understanding of CMOS/MOSFET device physics, semiconductor devices, memory circuits, and NAND flash architecture behavior.
- Experience with pre-silicon simulation environments, regression methodologies, and simulation-to-silicon correlation.
- Proficiency in data analysis, scripting, and statistical evaluation using Python, JMP, or equivalent tools.
- Working knowledge of DFT, probe test infrastructure, failure analysis, and silicon characterization methodologies.
- Experience applying advanced analytics, machine learning, or AI techniques to engineering datasets.
- Structured problem-solving, strong technical communication, cross-functional collaboration, and ability to drive execution with limited supervision.
- Experience driving technical problem resolution independently and influencing stakeholders.
- Preferred: deep NAND architecture and test-chip development experience; experience with firmware-assisted test modes and experimental silicon features.
Education Requirements
PhD with ≥2 years, or Master’s degree with ≥5 years, or Bachelor’s degree with ≥7 years of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field. (These degree-plus-experience combinations are stated as the minimum qualifications.)
