Staff / Sr. Staff Design Verification Engineer
LightmatterJob Title
Staff / Sr. Staff Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Join the verification team responsible for validating integrated digital, analog, and photonic ASICs for data-center AI and HPC systems. You will develop UVM-based verification environments, collaborate with architects, digital designers, and analog/photonics teams, and lead verification flows that include mixed-signal simulation and emulation.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting requests a minimum of 8 years of design verification and SystemVerilog experience; final leveling depends on education, years of experience, and interview performance.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities cover methodology, verification execution, and cross-discipline collaboration for block and full-chip verification.
- Define and improve DV methodologies for integrated digital, analog, and photonic devices, emphasizing emulation-based verification.
- Create and execute test plans to meet functional and performance goals for tapeouts.
- Develop reusable, scalable UVM testbench components and verification infrastructure.
- Collaborate with architects, DV, digital, analog, and photonics engineers to define validation flows and performance verification.
- Integrate analog IP from vendors and internal teams and build verification environments for simulation and emulation.
- Create behavioral models for analog blocks and integrate models/testcases/checkers into higher-level environments.
- Drive coverage closure and complete DV signoff, leveraging mixed-signal simulations to achieve targets.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Minimum 8+ years of design verification experience with SystemVerilog.
- Expertise using the UVM library to build testbenches and verification components.
- Experience with simulators such as Xcelium, ModelSim, Questa, or VCS.
- Practical Python experience for testbench automation and tooling (2+ years preferred).
- Experience with emulation, mixed-signal verification, and performance verification (practical experience preferred).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate across digital, analog, and photonics teams.
- Familiarity with post-silicon validation and debug is preferred.
- Familiarity with AMS verification and Real Number Modeling (RNM) is preferred.
- Ability to comply with U.S. export control laws and related requirements.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Preferred: Master’s degree or higher in EE/CE or related field (or equivalent experience) for senior-level consideration.
