Job Title

Staff Software Engineer – ML (Tooling)

Role Summary

Design and develop scalable tooling and frameworks that enable large-scale ML validation, performance analysis, and system-level verification across Arm CPUs, GPUs, NPUs and pre-silicon platforms. The role sits on a cross-functional ML performance and validation team working with software, systems and IP groups.

Experience Level

Senior-level (Staff). Years of experience not specified.

Responsibilities

Deliver software systems and automation to run, measure, and analyse ML workloads at scale across heterogeneous hardware.

  • Design and implement frameworks and tooling for executing ML workloads and benchmarks across board farms and platforms.
  • Automate execution, data collection, and visualization pipelines to support performance and quality assessment.
  • Collaborate with ML software, systems, and IP teams to define requirements and drive improvements.
  • Influence ML performance and validation strategies for future architectures and pre-silicon environments.
  • Define systems and abstractions that enable large-scale ML validation rather than writing individual tests.

Requirements

Core technical skills and relevant domain experience. Candidates who meet most but not all items are welcome to apply.

Must-have

  • Strong software development or automation experience; Python required.
  • Familiarity with modern Python development practices (object-oriented design and tools such as uv and ruff).
  • Experience with containers (Docker) and CI/CD systems (Jenkins, GitLab, or GitHub).
  • Comfortable developing on Linux or macOS.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work across multicultural teams.

Nice-to-have

  • Knowledge of operating system fundamentals (processes, file systems, resource management).
  • Experience with pre-silicon or hardware bring-up environments and running workloads on FPGAs, phones, or development boards.
  • Familiarity with ML frameworks, compilers, or model execution flows.
  • Background in data visualization or performance analytics.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
