Role Summary
Join Arm's GPU Customer Engineering team in Shanghai as a Staff Software Engineer responsible for developing and enabling kernel‑mode graphics drivers and GPU integration for Linux and Android platforms. Work closely with user‑space driver teams, platform integrators, silicon partners, and customers to deliver robust GPU enablement on flagship devices.
The role focuses on deep technical problem solving, system bring‑up, performance tuning and direct customer engagement during integration and validation.

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop, optimize and maintain Linux and Android kernel‑mode graphics drivers for advanced GPU architectures.
- Collaborate with user‑space driver teams, platform integrators, silicon partners, and internal architects to ensure GPU enablement.
- Integrate and validate GPU software on flagship consumer platforms and devices.
- Perform performance tuning for memory, power and embedded constraints; debug complex system‑level issues using kernel tracing and other tools.
- Work directly with customers to diagnose issues, provide technical guidance and support bring‑up activities.
- Contribute to specification, testing and documentation as part of the software lifecycle.
Requirements
Essential (must-have) technical skills and experience:
- Proficient in C and experienced in Linux kernel development and device driver implementation.
- Hands-on experience with DRM, KMS, GEM, IOMMU, DMA, power management and related kernel subsystems.
- Skilled with debugging and tracing tools (GDB, perf, ftrace) and kernel tracing methodologies.
- Familiarity with Android graphics framework (SurfaceFlinger, HWC) and Android platform integration.
- Experience with embedded systems, SoC bring‑up, performance tuning, and working within memory/power‑constrained environments.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, customer‑facing experience, and effective written and spoken English communication.
Preferred / nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of Vulkan or OpenGL ES and EGL APIs.
- Understanding of the GPU hardware pipeline on mobile platforms.
- Experience delivering consumer electronics devices and working on large, multi‑site software projects.
- Familiarity with Agile development and the full software lifecycle (specification, test, documentation).
