Role Summary

Senior software engineer on a Synopsys engineering team that builds CAD tools and software for chip design and verification. The role focuses on designing, implementing, debugging, and optimizing complex software used in hierarchical DFT, 1687, pattern porting, and related flows.

The team works across software and hardware domains to deliver high-performance, reliable tools for internal and external customers.

Experience Level

Senior level — minimum 5 years of professional software development experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include designing and delivering production-quality software and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

• Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug complex software programs and tools.
• Implement and optimize algorithms and data structures for performance and scalability.
• Develop and maintain software components spanning operating systems, compilers, networking utilities, and databases as required by CAD tools.
• Analyze hardware compatibility and provide recommendations to improve software-hardware integration and performance.
• Collaborate with product, verification, and hardware teams to take projects from design through delivery.
• Investigate, diagnose, and resolve technical issues in production and development environments.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of software development experience, preferably in semiconductor or high-tech domains.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ and solid knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
• Hands-on experience with operating systems, compilers, networks, and internet-related tools.
• Experience with Hierarchical DFT, IEEE 1687 (IJTAG), pattern porting, and CAD tool development.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues and optimizing software performance.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across distributed teams; mentoring junior engineers.
