Staff SoC Performance Architect
Role Summary
Senior performance engineer on the Arm System IP team focused on SoC-level performance for interconnect IP. The role works with architects, RTL, and validation engineers to develop cycle-accurate performance models and evaluate architectural trade-offs for infrastructure, automotive, and mobile systems.
Primary mission: deliver high-quality performance models, identify system bottlenecks, and provide actionable insights to improve system-level performance on Arm technology.
Experience Level
Senior (Staff) level. Specific years of experience not stated; requires proven industry experience in SoC performance modeling and/or RTL.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include building and validating performance models, analyzing system behavior, and collaborating across teams.
- Collaborate with micro-architects, RTL, and validation teams to develop cycle-accurate timing and performance models for coherent and non-coherent interconnects.
- Evaluate architectural trade-offs and drive new feature development with system-level performance focus.
- Build and maintain well-correlated performance models for internal analysis and customer evaluation.
- Partner with internal teams and external customers to deliver performance collateral and insights.
- Design performance test suites, identify bottlenecks, validate expectations, and propose practical, data-driven solutions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and industry experience.
- Proven experience in SoC performance modeling and/or RTL within the semiconductor industry.
- Track record of developing cycle-accurate performance models and evaluating microarchitectural features.
- Strong C++ skills for large-scale software development.
- Experience with SystemC TLM and proficiency in Python scripting.
Nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of interconnect microarchitecture, PCIe, and CHI protocols.
- Familiarity with realistic workloads used for system performance optimization.
- Experience with performance verification methodologies and correlating software models with RTL.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
