Staff Silicon Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Join the Silicon Engineering team to validate and characterize FPGA building blocks from silicon arrival through product release. The role focuses on validating IP blocks (SERDES, memory interfaces, DPHY, PLL, DSP, fabric, I/O) at board and silicon level, driving bring-up, debug, and cross-functional resolution.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include planning and executing validation and characterization activities, developing test logic and automation, and collaborating across design, verification, manufacturing, and product teams.

• Plan and execute silicon validation and characterization from silicon arrival to production release.
• Develop validation and characterization plans, bench hardware and software, and test logic (RTL).
• Drive new-silicon bring-up, debug IP functionality and performance, and characterize datasheet parameters.
• Analyze measured data statistically and contribute to datasheet preparation.
• Act as a central technical resource across design, verification, manufacturing, test, quality, and applications teams.
• Support customer issues and post-release problem resolution as required.
• Develop and maintain test automation and measurement scripts/tools.

Must-have:

• 8+ years of relevant silicon validation/characterization experience.
• Proven capability to lead a small technical team as a tech lead.
• Expertise in high-speed SerDes characterization and protocol compliance testing (PCIe, Ethernet, SDI, CoaXpress, JESD204, MIPI D-PHY, USB, DisplayPort/HDMI).
• Experience in high-speed board design and signal integrity evaluation/debug.
• Proficiency in Verilog or VHDL and FPGA development flows.
• Test automation development experience (Python, Perl, or similar).
• Familiarity with device characterization bench equipment (BERT, VNA, oscilloscopes, protocol exercisers/analyzers).
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, and cross-functional communication skills.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with FPGA emulation/prototyping.
• Knowledge of statistical analysis tools (JMP, R) and analysis workflows.
• Experience preparing or contributing to datasheets and statistical characterization reports.

Education Requirements
