Staff Silicon Design Engineer
Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
Staff Silicon Design Engineer
Role Summary
Lead verification for complex SoC subsystems, owning verification strategy, test planning, execution, and sign-off for subsystem-level features and integrations.
Work cross-functionally with RTL design, architecture, firmware, emulation, and performance teams to ensure functionality, performance, power, and security across IP integrations and system interfaces.
Experience Level
Senior. No specific years of experience were stated.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include planning, developing, and executing verification to sign-off quality metrics for assigned subsystem(s).
- Define verification strategy, coverage goals, corner cases, and sign-off criteria for subsystems (e.g., memory/cache, coherency, DMA, interrupts, PCIe/DDR).
- Develop UVM/SystemVerilog testbenches, sequences, scoreboards, coverage models, checkers, and SVA assertions.
- Drive constrained-random and directed testing; analyze and close coverage gaps across functional, code, and assertion metrics.
- Integrate multiple IPs and verify subsystem interactions (coherency, ordering, QoS, virtual channels, power/clock/reset, security/isolation).
- Debug complex RTL and system-level issues using waveforms, logs, and assertions; perform root-cause analysis.
- Maintain and optimize CI/regression infrastructure and simulation performance for large regressions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine requirements, align interfaces, and triage bugs.
- Contribute to verification methodology, reusable components, and team best practices.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes for immediate effectiveness in the role.
- Hands-on experience with SoC or subsystem verification using UVM/SystemVerilog.
- Solid understanding of complex SoC architectures, memory/cache hierarchies, coherency protocols, interconnects, and high-speed interfaces (PCIe, DDR).
- Proven ability to define verification strategies and develop reusable testbenches and coverage-driven verification to sign-off.
- Experienced at debugging RTL and system-level issues using waveforms, logs, and assertions.
- Experience working in cross-functional environments and communicating technical status, risks, and findings to stakeholders.
- Self-driven, detail-oriented, and able to own verification deliverables from planning through sign-off.
- Familiarity with CI/regression infrastructure and simulation performance optimization.
- Nice-to-have: experience with emulation, performance validation, and verification methodology improvements.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
