Staff Silicon Design Engineer
Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
Staff Silicon Design Engineer
Role Summary
Plan, develop, and execute SoC verification for AMD ASIC and FPGA SoCs to ensure functional correctness before tape-out.
Work on a geographically distributed SoC verification team, collaborating with design, software, and architecture teams to close functional coverage and verification infrastructure gaps.
Experience Level
Senior (Staff). The posting does not specify required years of experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include designing and executing verification plans and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
- Verify next-generation ASIC and FPGA SoCs as part of a distributed SoC verification team.
- Develop SoC testplans, implement SystemVerilog/UVM testbenches, and create directed and random testcases.
- Execute regression testing and contribute to verification infrastructure and flows.
- Debug test failures, determine root causes, and collaborate with RTL and firmware engineers to resolve issues.
- Review functional and code coverage metrics and modify tests or constraints to achieve coverage targets.
- Collaborate with design, software, and architecture teams to validate SoC behavior.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed in the bullets.
- Hands-on experience with SystemVerilog and UVM (mandatory).
- Proficient in Verilog/SystemVerilog and comfortable with C/C++.
- Scripting experience (Perl or Python).
- Experience with SoC and IP-level FPGA and ASIC verification and strong understanding of SoC architecture.
- Knowledge of design flow, verification methodology, computational logic design, and coverage-driven verification.
- Experience debugging verification failures and working with RTL and firmware teams.
- Ability to work across geographically distributed teams and communicate effectively.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field; posting references relevant years of experience alongside the degree requirement.
