Job Title
Staff RF Test Development Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Defense, Aerospace & Satcom engineering team to develop and execute design validation and characterization tests for advanced RFICs. The role focuses on developing test solutions, characterizing first-silicon performance, and ensuring products meet datasheet and customer requirements.
Experience Level
Senior / Professional level. The role typically requires 5+ years of relevant RF test engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include designing test solutions, validating first silicon, and supporting cross-functional product delivery.
- Design and develop test solutions for highly integrated mixed-signal mm-wave RFICs (approximately 10β40 GHz).
- Support design engineering with evaluation, optimization and first-silicon debug.
- Characterize products to develop datasheet specifications and measurement reports.
- Produce customer-facing collateral and test procedures for product operation.
- Participate in cross-functional teams for design reviews, test coverage, 8D investigations, and customer issue resolution.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes for successful performance in this role.
- Proven experience testing RFICs at the IC/device level across mm-wave frequencies (around 10β40 GHz).
- In-depth knowledge of RF network analyzers, calibration methodologies, calset manipulation, and advanced measurement techniques.
- Hands-on experience with RF measurements (X-band through W-band) at the device/IC level.
- Strong Python programming skills for data processing and visualization; familiarity with numpy and matplotlib.
- Experience analyzing large data sets and applying statistical analysis and DoE; experience with Spotfire or similar tools.
- Experience with digital control of ICs (SPI, I2C, scan testing, STIL files).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work across Sales, Design, Systems, and Applications teams.
- Highly self-motivated with strong ownership to drive tasks to completion.
- Position is not eligible for visa sponsorship by the company.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience developing UIs with PyQt.
- FPGA experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) required; the posting specifies these degrees with at least 5 years of relevant RF Test Engineering experience.
