Job Title
Staff RF/Mixed Signal/Analog Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and deliver analog/mixed-signal integrated circuits for RF products using CMOS, BCD, and BiCMOS process technologies. Work with cross-functional product teams from concept through production, including specification, silicon implementation, test and production transition. May mentor other engineers and present design reviews.
Location: San Jose, CA. Relocation eligible. Posted base salary range: $140,100 - $182,100 (California Bay Area).
Experience Level
Senior-level. Qualifications reference 5+ years for BS holders or 2+ years for MS/PhD holders of relevant IC design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include circuit design, simulation, verification, and production support.
- Specify, design, analyze and simulate analog/mixed-signal integrated circuits.
- Implement analog/mixed-signal circuit designs in silicon technologies (CMOS/BCD/BiCMOS).
- Evaluate, test and characterize fabricated hardware and document results.
- Design evaluation hardware, test plans, and assembly/test documentation.
- Prepare and present design reviews; summarize work in written reports.
- Support design transition into production with product, quality, test and manufacturing teams.
- Support product through concept, development, qualification and production stages.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute novel design ideas and invention disclosures where applicable.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and demonstrable hands-on experience; nice-to-have items noted.
- Experience with CMOS, BCD and/or BiCMOS process technologies.
- Analog circuit design experience (bandgap references, op amps, comparators, VCOs, frequency converters, DACs, ADCs).
- Knowledge of control systems and feedback theory, including loop and noise analysis.
- Proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso and analog/mixed-signal simulation tools (Spectre/AMS).
- Proficient in analog circuit layout or able to guide layout designers using proper analog layout techniques.
- Hands-on hardware evaluation using oscilloscopes, spectrum/network analyzers, signal sources and AWGs.
- Strong verbal and written communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to produce design documentation, test plans, and support production handoff.
- Nice to have: serial bus protocols (I2C, I3C, RFFE, SPI) and exposure to digital design (Verilog/VHDL).
Education Requirements
BS in Electrical Engineering with five (5) or more years of relevant design experience; or MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering with two (2) or more years of relevant design experience. Equivalent practical experience implied by the experience-based qualifications.
