Job Title

Staff RF/Microwave Amplifier MMIC Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and develop RF/microwave/millimeter-wave GaAs and GaN MMIC amplifiers (LNAs, drivers, PAs) for communications, instrumentation, industrial, and aerospace/defense applications. Work on circuit design, layout, simulation, measurement, and product integration within an RF/microwave team.

Experience Level

Senior level β€” requires a minimum of 7+ years of relevant RF/microwave/MMIC design experience.

Responsibilities

Core technical and team responsibilities include:

  • Architect, design, and optimize amplifier MMIC circuits (LNA, driver, PA) in GaAs and/or GaN technologies.
  • Create layouts and perform EM and thermal simulations to validate designs.
  • Develop and validate device models and perform circuit-level and system-level simulations.
  • Plan, execute, and interpret RF measurements using network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, and other microwave test equipment.
  • Collaborate with process engineers, test engineers, and cross-functional teams to move designs into production.
  • Document designs, test procedures, and results; support product qualification and troubleshooting.
  • Travel as required (approximately 10%).

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, constraints, and personal attributes:

  • Practical experience with GaAs and/or GaN semiconductor technologies and MMIC design and layout.
  • Proficiency with RF/microwave EDA and EM tools such as ADS, Cadence, AWR, Momentum, RFPro, Sonnet, and HFSS.
  • Strong experience with electromagnetic simulation and thermal analysis for microwave circuits.
  • Hands-on familiarity with RF/microwave test equipment and measurement techniques.
  • Experience with PA linearization and efficiency enhancement is a plus.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills; ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident (green card holder) due to export control requirements.

Education Requirements

MSEE or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a background in RF/microwave engineering is required; minimum 7+ years of industry experience. A PhD in a relevant area may be counted toward the experience requirement depending on the thesis.
