Staff Reliability Engineer

Role Summary

Define and execute the reliability strategy for next-generation AI computing systems. This technical leadership role drives reliability from architecture through production, working across hardware, software, manufacturing, and supply-chain teams to improve uptime, durability, and quality.

The position is hybrid and based in Toronto, Canada.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 8+ years in reliability engineering, preferably in high-performance computing, AI hardware, or data center systems.

Responsibilities

Lead reliability activities across design, test, and production to close the loop between test findings and design improvements.

• Set reliability strategy including MTBF modeling and predictive frameworks.
• Plan and execute accelerated life testing (HALT/HASS/ALT) and interpret results (Weibull analysis, MTBF).
• Lead root-cause investigations and drive corrective actions across engineering and supply chain.
• Run hands-on testing in thermal labs and third-party test facilities; preplan and oversee DUT validation.
• Provide reliability risk assessments and explain trade-offs to leadership and design teams.
• Partner closely with Systems Engineering and System Dev & Compliance Validation to prepare hardware for certification.
• Coordinate cross-disciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, thermal, software, manufacturing) under tight timelines.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, experience, and conditions for the role.

• 8+ years in reliability engineering or equivalent senior-level experience, ideally in HPC, AI hardware, or data center environments.
• Practical experience with HALT, HASS, ALT, MTBF modeling, Weibull analysis, and FMEA.
• Proven ability to lead root-cause analysis and implement fixes across teams and suppliers.
• Hands-on thermal lab experience and the ability to communicate technical risk to non-specialists.
• Experience coordinating validation and certification activities with System Dev & Compliance Validation teams.
• Willingness to travel to third-party test facilities, including international sites.
• Ability to work with manufacturing and test partners and to run reliability testing at partner sites.
• Employment contingent on eligibility to access U.S. export-controlled technology (citizenship/permanent residency or ability to obtain required license may be required).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or a related technical field (as stated in the posting).
