Job Title

Staff Project Manager, AI Product Engineering

Role Summary

Lead cross-functional development and delivery of complex silicon photonics and electro-optical systems from engineering development through integration, qualification, manufacturing, and production.

This role coordinates schedules, risks, vendors, BOM/material readiness, and dependencies across silicon photonics, hardware, firmware, software, mechanical/thermal, systems engineering, test, supply chain, and manufacturing.

Experience Level

Senior (staff-level). The role expects significant prior experience managing complex multidisciplinary engineering and product-development programs.

Responsibilities

The core responsibilities are planning, coordinating, and driving programs from prototype through production.

  • Lead integrated program planning and execution across silicon photonics, HW, FW, SW, system integration, test, and manufacturing.
  • Develop and manage program schedules, milestones, critical paths, dependencies, risks, and engineering deliverables.
  • Coordinate prototype and product builds: material readiness, procurement, BOMs, long-lead components, engineering readiness, and build schedules.
  • Drive cross-functional execution with engineering, supply chain, procurement, operations, manufacturing, vendors, and external partners.
  • Manage documentation: configuration control, engineering changes, requirements, test plans, and manufacturing readiness.
  • Lead program reviews, build-readiness reviews, vendor reviews, and risk management; prepare clear status reports and executive presentations.
  • Drive programs through EVT/DVT, qualification, NPI, and production ramp, ensuring issues and technical dependencies are closed.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience required for immediate impact.

  • Proven track record delivering hardware-intensive products involving HW, FW, SW, system integration, and manufacturing.
  • Strong experience managing engineering builds, integrated schedules, procurement, BOM/material readiness, and long-lead items.
  • Experience with vendors, supply chain, contract manufacturers, and NTI/NPI development.
  • Ability to identify critical-path risks, understand technical dependencies, and drive cross-disciplinary teams to resolution.
  • Strong organizational, written, verbal, and executive presentation skills.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with silicon photonics, optical systems, semiconductor products, networking hardware, or embedded systems.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline is stated as the educational expectation; the role also requires significant practical experience managing complex multidisciplinary engineering and product-development programs.

Compensation

Estimated annual base salary ranges by U.S. geographic zone (USD): Zone 1: $208,300–$244,700; Zone 2: $187,400–$220,200; Zone 3: $166,000–$195,800; Zone 4: $145,800–$171,300. Actual compensation depends on location, experience, and other factors.
