Staff Product Development Engineer – Silicon Photonics Test
Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
Staff Product Development Engineer – Silicon Photonics Test
Role Summary
Lead development and deployment of ATE-based production test solutions for silicon photonics across wafer, die, and co-packaged optics (CPO) levels within the Data Center Graphics New Product Introduction organization. Collaborate with silicon design, DFT, packaging, product engineering, and external suppliers to define test architecture from concept through production.
Experience Level
Senior (Staff-level). The role is a technical leadership position; explicit years of experience are not specified.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include defining, developing, and driving production test solutions and resolving complex test and manufacturing problems for silicon photonics.
- Architect and define ATE test solutions for silicon photonics at wafersort, die-level, and CPO-level.
- Collaborate with silicon design, packaging, product/test teams, and suppliers to identify structural and parametric root causes affecting performance, yield, reliability, and quality.
- Provide technical inputs and test requirements to suppliers to enable production-ready end-to-end solutions.
- Lead post-silicon bring-up and optimize test patterns for mass-production readiness.
- Execute characterization, analysis, and debug of silicon photonics tests, including RMA investigations.
- Optimize test coverage and flows to improve quality, yield, cost, and reduce test time.
- Identify and mitigate test challenges; plan and deliver large technical projects and process changes.
- Train and mentor other teams and engineers on silicon photonics test and manufacturing practices.
- Influence technical decisions that impact final product and production test strategy.
Requirements
Core technical skills and behaviors required for successful performance in this role.
- Must-have: Demonstrated engineering experience in semiconductor test, with a focus on silicon photonics and optical interconnect technologies.
- Must-have: Hands-on experience developing and executing ATE tests and production test flows.
- Must-have: Experience in characterization, analysis, debug, and RMA processes for new silicon designs and process technologies.
- Must-have: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, coordinate with suppliers, and drive long-term test solutions.
- Must-have: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to tackle novel, non-recurring problems and implement process improvements.
- Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience with optical interconnects, packaging interactions, and DFT for photonics.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with standard productivity software and distributed team collaboration.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Optics & Photonics Engineering, or a comparable discipline.
