Job Title

Staff Product Development Engineer (NPI)

Role Summary

Join the product engineering team responsible for enabling availability of microprocessors to customers by balancing cost, quality and time-to-market. The role focuses on test program infrastructure, silicon bring-up and debug, test hardware design, high-volume data analysis, and releasing production test programs.

Primary mission: improve silicon quality and yield through characterization, test-methodology improvements, and delivery of high-quality production test programs.

Experience Level

Senior (staff-level). No explicit years-of-experience stated.

Responsibilities

Contribute across the product development lifecycle from bring-up to production test and yield improvement.

  • Own silicon characterization plans across process, voltage, and temperature (PVT).
  • Drive weekly yield step-up activities and present results to broader Product Engineering Operations audiences.
  • Develop agentic AI tooling to accelerate yield and test data analytics.
  • Design and validate test program infrastructure and test hardware for production.
  • Perform silicon bring-up, debug failures, and correlate silicon behavior to test programs.
  • Analyze high-volume test data and generate actionable insights to improve yield and test time.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage stakeholders to meet quality, yield, and test-time KPIs.

Requirements

Key technical skills and behavioral expectations. Education credentials are summarized separately below.

  • Practical experience in product/test engineering for microprocessors, including silicon bring-up and debug.
  • Knowledge of test methodologies and use of DFT features to drive quality and yield improvements.
  • Proficiency in software programming and scripting (examples: C, C++, Java, Ruby, Perl, Python).
  • Experience with version control systems (Git, SVN, CVS) and statistical analysis of test data.
  • Familiarity with Windows, Unix, and Linux operating environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management, clear communicator, and proactive teammate.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with JTAG, ATPG, BIST, or HSIO.
  • Experience building or applying AI tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot, ChatGPT) for engineering workflows.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or comparable discipline (academic or equivalent practical experience implied by "comparable disciplines").
