Staff Product Development Engineer

Role Summary

Serves as the technical lead for test engineering of a next-generation AMD product, owning test solutions from pre-silicon characterization through first-silicon bring-up and production. Collaborates with Product, Design, Platform Engineering, Device Analysis, Foundry, Quality and Reliability to drive test strategy, debug, yield optimization, and cost/performance trade-offs.

Responsibilities

Accountable for test strategy, execution and optimization across the product lifecycle.

• Define characterization and test coverage strategies during pre-silicon phase.
• Specify pattern requirements and drive design-verification deliveries pre-silicon.
• Execute characterization and test plans on new silicon; lead first-silicon bring-up and debug.
• Perform device characterization, circuit sensitivity analysis; lead root-cause investigations and mitigations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional global teams to resolve device failures and improve product health.
• Optimize test content and yield during production to meet cost, quality and performance targets.
• Develop and deliver DFT/DFM/test solutions to meet product requirements.

Requirements

Technical competencies and attributes required or preferred for success in this role.

• Must-have: Strong knowledge of DFT and ATE test methodologies; functional test pattern development; pre-silicon simulation and debug.
• Must-have: Experience with EDA tools from Mentor, Synopsys or Cadence.
• Must-have: Strong scripting/programming skills (Python, C++ or similar) for test development and automation.
• Must-have: Knowledge of microprocessor architecture and System-on-Chip (SoC) test considerations.
• Nice-to-have: Hands-on ATE/test-class development experience on Advantest 93k and/or T2K platforms.
• Nice-to-have: Prior semiconductor industry experience across characterization, yield optimization and test cost reduction.
• Proven technical leadership, problem solving, effective communication, and ability to work independently across global teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
