Job Title

Staff Product Development Engineer

Role Summary

As a Staff Product Development Engineer (Product Definition), you will define and drive post-silicon power and performance attainment for next-generation high-performance semiconductor products. You will translate market and system-level requirements into engineering specifications, timelines, and measurable test points.

You will work across design, product management, test and systems teams to set operating limits, production guardbands, and milestone plans that balance performance, power, cost, and yield.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically 7+ years of relevant semiconductor product development or product engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Own post-silicon power/performance attainment by analyzing silicon characterization data to optimize power, performance, yield, and quality.
  • Define milestone plans and timelines for power attainment across product development phases and establish test points based on bounding-box requirements.
  • Interface with system architects, design teams, automated test engineering (ATE), systems-level teams (SLT), and platform teams to identify trade-offs and align products to use cases.
  • Prioritize features and balance performance, cost, power, and area for target customer verticals.
  • Monitor, assess, and document development risks; propose mitigation plans to minimize impact on schedules and product outcomes.
  • Experiment with and adopt AI tools to improve engineering efficiency and workflow automation.
  • Present technical findings and risk assessments to senior management and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Mentor engineers and lead cross-functional technical initiatives to drive issue resolution and product improvement.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred skills and experience:

  • Proven experience analyzing silicon power/characterization data to establish product operating limits, specifications, and production guardbands.
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor test methodologies and DFT features such as SCAN, MBIST, JTAG, and CREST.
  • Experience with characterization analysis, statistical modeling, and guardband optimization; data-driven decision making.
  • Ability to collaborate across Design, Test, Quality, Reliability, Platform, and other cross-functional teams to drive issue resolution.
  • Experience presenting technical findings and risk assessments to senior stakeholders; strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with engineering data analysis tools (examples: Excel, JMP, Python, SQL, Power BI); scripting and automation for data analysis and reporting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with power parameters (e.g., leakage/IDDQ, AC capacitance) is advantageous.
  • Experience adopting AI-assisted tools, AI agents, or workflow orchestration for engineering tasks is a plus.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a comparable discipline; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
