Staff Product Certification Manager

Role Summary

Lead and define PQShield's global certification strategy across hardware IP, software cryptographic libraries, and platform security products. Act as the company authority on certification, product assurance, and security compliance, influencing product roadmaps, architectures, customer engagements, and regulatory strategy.

This role works with product security architects, engineering teams, executive leadership, certification laboratories, standards bodies, regulators, and strategic customers to achieve and maintain required levels of assurance and compliance.

Experience Level

Senior — requires 12+ years of experience in security certification and product assurance, leading complex certification programs from strategy through certification and maintenance.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include setting strategy, providing technical leadership, and executing certification programs across product lines.

• Own and evolve the global certification and regulatory compliance strategy for hardware, software, and platform products.
• Define certification roadmaps aligned with business objectives and emerging regulatory frameworks (for example CRA, NIS2, EO 14028).
• Translate certification strategy into engineering requirements and investment priorities in partnership with cross-functional leaders.
• Advise architects and engineering teams on certification-driven design decisions and security-by-design practices.
• Establish reusable certification methodologies, evidence-generation processes, and assurance frameworks across product lines.
• Provide strategic oversight of certification programs, managing risks, dependencies, schedules, and resources.
• Lead engagement with certification laboratories, accreditation bodies, evaluators, and external assessors.
• Represent the company in standards bodies and industry alliances and contribute technical guidance and thought leadership.
• Support customers on certification strategy, audits, RFP responses, and technical due diligence.
• Mentor certification engineers and establish scalable processes, tooling, and governance for certification readiness and reporting.

Requirements

• Must-have: 12+ years leading security certification and product assurance programs across hardware and software products.
• Must-have: Deep expertise in multiple certification frameworks and standards and experience influencing product architecture to meet certification objectives.
• Must-have: Strong understanding of semiconductor security, cryptography, Root of Trust technologies, embedded systems, and hardware security architectures.
• Must-have: Experience working directly with certification laboratories, accreditation bodies, and standards organizations; strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
• Must-have: Ability to operate across technical, commercial, and regulatory domains and to interpret and operationalize regulatory requirements within product development organizations.
• Tools: Familiarity with Atlassian JIRA, Confluence, requirements and compliance management tools, and certification/assurance documentation workflows.
• Nice-to-have: Experience certifying cryptographic modules under FIPS 140-3 and Common Criteria evaluations.
• Nice-to-have: Knowledge of post-quantum cryptography, secure elements, side-channel analysis, fault injection, tamper resistance, and formal verification techniques.
• Nice-to-have: Existing network within certification laboratories, standards bodies, or industry associations and experience contributing to standards or certification scheme development.
• Nice-to-have: Demonstrated use of AI tools to improve productivity and processes.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Cyber Security, or a related discipline.
