Staff Product Application Engineer
Role Summary
As a Staff Product Application Engineer on the Product Application & Evaluation team you will lead technical evaluation and application development for optical control products used in next-generation optical modules (CPO, XPO, NPO, LPO). The role bridges silicon design, evaluation, and product release to ensure qualification readiness and to accelerate application development and product adoption.
Primary mission: define and execute evaluation plans, develop reference designs and test hardware/software, debug at silicon/board/system levels, drive qualification activities, and mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include product evaluation, reference design, debugging, project management, and technical leadership.
- Define comprehensive product evaluation plans and detailed test methodologies; produce clear evaluation and characterization reports.
- Design internal evaluation hardware and develop automated measurement programs for silicon evaluation.
- Execute functionality, performance, and characterization tests on evaluation and application benches.
- Develop application boards and customer reference designs aligned with target optical module architectures.
- Produce high-quality datasheets, user guides, and application notes; support customer application issue debugging.
- Debug silicon, board-level, and system-level issues; perform root-cause analysis with design, test, and reliability teams.
- Drive product qualification activities (Qual Plan, HTOL, HAST, ESD, LU, and other reliability tests) and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, and resources.
- Act as the primary interface across cross-functional teams (Engineering, Product, Test, Software, Operations, Quality) and proactively identify and mitigate project risks and dependencies.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers to build long-term application capability within the team.
Requirements
Must-have skills and attributes:
- Solid foundation in signal-chain circuits (ADC, DAC, amplifiers, TIA, PGA).
- Deep understanding of IC evaluation and performance measurement techniques.
- Hands-on experience with PCB schematic design and layout.
- Programming skills in LabVIEW, Python, and/or C/C++.
- Familiarity with lab instruments: oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal sources, and DMMs.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated, collaborative, and proactive communicator.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Willingness to travel (approximately 10%).
Education Requirements
MSEE or above in Electrical Engineering or related disciplines.
