Staff/Principal Software Engineer – Release & Defect Lead

Role Summary

Lead post-silicon firmware release planning, defect management and the coordination of development environment requirements for Arm datacenter SoC software projects within the Infrastructure Solutions Software (CE-SW) group.

Work across engineering teams and Arm locations to ensure release readiness, surface delivery risks, and align platform and lab resources.

Responsibilities

Accountable for coordinating firmware releases, managing defects and aligning engineering environment needs across teams and sites.

• Lead post-silicon firmware releases: planning, readiness, quality and delivery across teams and platform configurations.
• Own defect management across firmware releases: establish triage, prioritisation and visibility of release blockers and risks.
• Define and coordinate CE-SW requirements for development environments: development boards, system configurations, debug equipment and lab capacity.
• Collaborate across locations and engineering teams to align priorities, resolve issues and improve firmware delivery effectiveness.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for the role.

• Proven experience in firmware or low-level system software, delivering production-quality software for complex systems.
• Experience leading software releases, defect management or system integration across multiple engineering teams in the SoC domain.
• Good understanding of post-silicon firmware development: software integration, validation, release processes and hardware debug/development environments.
• Strong technical judgement, problem-solving and cross-team communication skills.

Nice-to-have:

• Knowledge of server-class SoCs and production firmware for infrastructure platforms.
• Familiarity with Arm-based system software such as Trusted Firmware-A (TF-A), UEFI EDK II, SCP/MCP firmware, Linux or OpenBMC.
• Experience with CI/CD, release automation, software configuration management, defect tracking or hardware debug environments.
