Staff Power Applications Engineer (Data Center)
Role Summary
Lead development and customer support for high-performance data-center power solutions, focusing on multiphase controllers, smart power stages, point-of-load DC/DC converters, and vertical power delivery architectures.
Work within the Data Center Power team to define system architecture, validate prototypes in the lab, produce reference designs and documentation, and engage with customers on product roadmaps.
Experience Level
Senior (Staff level). Minimum guidance: 5+ years demonstrated experience; preferred 7+ years.
Responsibilities
Accountable for system- and product-level work across development and customer-facing activities.
- Lead system, architecture, and product definitions for data-center power solutions.
- Develop proof-of-concept simulation models and correlate models with bench measurements.
- Perform experimental verification and debugging of products under development.
- Create and validate reference designs, evaluation kits, and simulation models for customer use.
- Produce technical collaterals: datasheets, evaluation manuals, application notes, layout guidelines, and evaluation reports.
- Engage with customers on roadmaps and provide technical product support and troubleshooting.
Requirements

- Must-have: Strong electrical engineering fundamentals, control-loop knowledge, and analytical problem-solving.
- Practical power-electronics experience: operation and control of DC/DC converters and experience debugging power circuits.
- Experience using circuit simulation and/or software development tools for power systems.
- Hands-on laboratory skills with power supplies, oscilloscopes, electronic loads, data acquisition (DAQ), and related test equipment.
- Ability to develop, verify, and document reference designs and evaluation kits.
- Self-management, meeting deadlines, and effective collaboration within cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to travel up to ~10% for customer engagement and field support.
- May require export licensing review for non-U.S. citizens or non-permanent residents to access certain technical data.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with multiphase buck converters and data-center power architectures; familiarity with IC design and architecture; clear technical communication skills.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) plus 5 years of relevant experience. Preferred: Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) or equivalent plus 7 years of relevant experience. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
