Senior engineering role on the Physical Design / CAD team within Hardware Engineering and Design Engineering in San Diego. The role focuses on developing, maintaining and deploying CAD tools, automation and flows that enable physical implementation of SoCs.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include tool and flow development, automation, and support for physical design teams.

  • Design, implement and maintain physical-design CAD tools and automation scripts.
  • Develop and optimize place-and-route and timing-closure flows to improve productivity and quality.
  • Collaborate with RTL, back-end and verification teams to integrate CAD flows into project delivery.
  • Debug and resolve toolchain and flow issues encountered during implementation and sign-off.
  • Document flows, best practices and provide support/training to design teams; mentor junior engineers.

  • Must-have: Practical experience with physical-design CAD or EDA tool development and automation; proficiency with scripting languages (for example Python, Tcl) and software engineering practices.
  • Must-have: Experience working with physical implementation flows (place-and-route, timing closure, signoff) and supporting design teams.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with industry EDA tools and tapeout processes; familiarity with high-performance flow optimization and debugging at scale.
