Job Title
Staff PCIe Design Engineer
Role Summary
Member of the Arm Toronto design centre working on integration of I/O subsystems and SoC IPs. The role focuses on micro-architecture, RTL development, debugging, and cross-team collaboration with verification, performance analysis and backend implementation to deliver PCIe/CXL and related subsystems.
Work involves specification, RTL development, design checks and supporting implementation and performance activities in a multi-disciplinary SoC project team.
Experience Level
Senior β 10+ years experience in design of complex compute subsystems or SoCs.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Specify micro-architecture and produce build specifications for I/O subsystems (PCIe, CXL, UCIe and others).
- Develop RTL and fix functional and integration bugs.
- Collaborate with verification to review test plans and debug build issues.
- Partner with performance analysis to evaluate and improve system performance.
- Support backend implementation: floorplanning, constraints and timing closure.
- Perform and own static design checks and sign-off activities; improve team design methodologies.
- Mentor and guide team members and coordinate with project management on plans and schedules.
Requirements
Key technical requirements and desirable skills.
Must-have:
- 10+ years experience in design of complex compute subsystems or SoCs.
- Strong digital hardware design skills and practical experience with Verilog HDL.
- Experience developing and integrating subsystems for PCIe, CXL, UCIe or Ethernet.
- Experience producing design specifications and developing RTL for SoC projects and compute platforms.
- Experience with static design checks (CDC, RDC, X-Propagation, linting).
- Scripting experience (Perl, Python or similar) for automation and tooling.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with ARM-based designs or ARM system architectures.
- Experience leading small teams or technical projects.
- Synthesis and timing analysis, power management techniques, DFT and physical implementation knowledge.
Education Requirements
