Staff Package Design Engineer
Role Summary
Lead and supervise package research & development projects focused on new packages, processes, equipment, and materials. Responsible for driving product release activities that reduce assembly cost, improve manufacturability and quality, protect intellectual property, and enable technology transfer to offshore sites or licensees.
Role is based in the Kaohsiung packaging and advanced engineering group supporting MOSFET product lines.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Minimum 5 years of experience in semiconductor packaging development.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include managing package RD activities, validating final test processes, and coordinating cross-functional transfers.
- Maintain and assess FR2/FR3 final-test checklists to mitigate risk for new package RD projects.
- Review design and fitting analysis of conversion kits for final-test handlers to ensure first-time-right operation.
- Conduct kit and machine buyoffs to validate final-test process quality.
- Work with product and foundry managers to create and validate test programs and methods for new package products.
- Coordinate and perform final testing for new package RD projects, summarize results, and communicate required test limit modifications to product managers.
- Prepare engineering documentation to support new product release and technology transfer activities.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in semiconductor packaging development.
- Familiarity with materials, processes, and equipment used in semiconductor packaging.
- Experience with final-test handlers, conversion kits, and machine buyoff procedures.
- Ability to develop or support test programs and interpret final-test results.
- English reading and writing ability.
- Good documentation and typing skills.
Nice-to-have: experience in intellectual property protection and formal technology transfer to offshore facilities or licensees.
