Role Summary
Lead Quality Engineering for new product introduction (NPI) of semiconductor PCIe/server/rack products for AI data center applications. Serve as the Quality Engineering representative within core development teams and cross-functional partners to ensure supplier readiness, product reliability, and production readiness from NPI through high-volume manufacturing (HVM).
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires multiple years of hardware-quality engineering experience; see Education Requirements for degree and years-of-experience details.
Responsibilities
Own and drive product quality during NPI and transition to HVM; collaborate across engineering, operations and suppliers to mitigate risk and resolve quality issues.
- Represent Quality Engineering in core development teams and cross-functional reviews (QRE, Packaging, PTE, Systems, Design, Ops, Suppliers).
- Ensure quality deliverables: reliability, supplier readiness, RMA readiness, and product readiness for launch.
- Lead root-cause analysis, CAPA, lessons learned and upstream risk mitigation during development.
- Develop and execute AQL sampling plans and manage supplier quality performance and process control.
- Manage excursion escalation, disposition of non-conforming material, and support RMA/CQE activities.
- Drive PRB/CCB reviews, gate readiness assessments, and product risk assessments.
- Lead supplier qualification, continuous improvement actions, and task forces to implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Provide guidance on manufacturing sensitivities (ESD, MSL, SMT) and test/validation considerations.
- Interface with customers and suppliers as required to resolve quality issues and align requirements.
Requirements
Must-have:
- Proven experience in hardware quality engineering for NPI and HVM in semiconductor, board, or server environments.
- Practical knowledge of quality tools, statistical methods, and structured problem-solving techniques.
- Experience managing supplier quality, AQL sampling, MRB, and CAPA processes.
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills; able to organize and articulate technical information.
- Proactive, team-oriented, and able to drive issue resolution across functional teams.
- Familiarity with manufacturing and test processes and sensitivities relevant to assembly and systems-level debugging.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience in PC/PCIe, CCA, PCB, semiconductor, cloud data center or server products.
- Hands-on experience with PC systems operation, system-level testing, fab/SAT activities, and component interactions (e.g., RF transceiver, power management, codecs, modems).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical field with 4+ years of hardware engineering or related work experience; OR Master's degree in those fields with 3+ years of relevant experience; OR PhD in those fields with 2+ years of relevant experience.
