Staff Mixed-Signal Digital Design Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Staff Mixed-Signal Digital Design Engineer
Role Summary
Join Qualcomm's Mixed-Signal IP (MSIP) Digital Design team in Cork to architect and implement digital sections of mixed-signal IPs used in mobile, compute, automotive, and AI products. The team covers architecture, RTL design, verification and physical implementation.
This role focuses on ASIC front-end design, close collaboration with design verification and physical design teams, and supporting silicon bring-up and debug.
Experience Level
Senior - typically requires 5+ years of ASIC digital design experience (micro-architecture and RTL). Candidates with equivalent experience who can demonstrate the required competencies will be considered.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Architect, design and implement digital blocks for mixed-signal IPs (e.g., SerDes, DDR, PLL, DAC, ADC, sensors).
- Apply computer architecture and DSP techniques to improve power, performance, and area (PPA).
- Use ASIC design and verification tool flow (lint, CDC, DFT, synthesis, formal/FV, STA) to validate designs.
- Define test plans and work with DV to verify designs and resolve bugs.
- Collaborate with PD for physical implementation and timing closure.
- Create design specifications and documentation.
- Support silicon bring-up, testing and debug activities.
Requirements
Must-have:
- Proven ASIC digital design experience including micro-architecture definition, RTL coding, and front-end implementation.
- Experience with front-end ASIC tools such as Design Compiler, Fusion Compiler, ModelSim, VCS, SpyGlass, and PrimeTime.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with DV and PD teams to deliver tapeouts.
- Strong communication skills and ability to contribute effectively in a team environment.
Nice-to-have:
- Low-power digital design experience.
- Background in computer architecture, DSP, or algorithm design.
- Scripting experience (Python, Perl).
- Experience with mixed-signal IPs such as SerDes, DDR PHY, timing circuits (PLL/DLL/FLL), data converters (DAC/ADC), or sensors.
Education Requirements
Degrees and equivalence mentioned: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field is listed. Alternatives in the posting include Bachelor's in Science/Engineering (with more experience) or PhD (with less experience). Example baselines cited: Bachelor's +4 years, Master's +3 years, PhD +2 years. Equivalent practical experience in lieu of a degree is accepted.
