Job Title

Staff Mixed-Signal Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and optimize transistor-level circuits and key analog/mixed-signal blocks for high-speed data converters within the Advanced Cores Group. Work with cross-functional teams (architecture, layout, evaluation, and test) to deliver converter cores for integration into system-on-chip products.

This is a senior engineering role focused on solving complex circuit challenges and making system-level trade-offs to meet performance and integration targets.

Experience Level

Senior β€” requires 5+ years of CMOS design experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include circuit design, system trade-off analysis, and collaboration across design and test teams.

  • Implement key circuit blocks within a defined architecture in collaboration with other designers.
  • Analyze system-level impacts of block-level parameters and perform trade-off decisions.
  • Design challenging transistor-level circuits (amplifiers, comparators, switched-capacitor circuits, references, LDOs, etc.).
  • Prepare design documentation and participate in design reviews.
  • Guide layout engineers and evaluation/test teams through design handoff and characterization.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; followed by concise list of preferred (nice-to-have) items.

  • Minimum 5+ years of CMOS analog/mixed-signal design experience.
  • Strong understanding of wide-bandwidth amplifiers, comparators, switched-capacitor circuits, precision voltage/current references, and LDOs.
  • Proficient with Cadence schematic capture and SPICE simulation tools.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a large, geographically distributed team.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience in high-speed data converter or SerDes PHY design; signal-processing knowledge relevant to calibration algorithms; experience using MATLAB for behavioral modeling.

Education Requirements

M.S. or beyond in Electrical Engineering (Master's or Ph.D.).
