Job Title

Staff Mixed-Signal Design Engineer

Role Summary

Work on advanced high-speed data converter cores in the Advanced Cores Group, designing transistor-level mixed-signal blocks and collaborating with layout, evaluation, and test teams. The team develops ADCs, DACs and SerDes PHYs for SoC integration across automotive, aerospace, communications and instrumentation markets.

This is a hybrid role based in Durham, NC; the position requires solving complex circuit-level challenges within a geographically distributed engineering organization.

Experience Level

Senior β€” 7+ years of CMOS design experience expected.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design transistor-level mixed-signal circuit blocks and implement them within defined architectures.
  • Analyze system-level impacts of block parameters and perform trade-offs.
  • Prepare design documentation and lead or participate in design reviews.
  • Coordinate with layout, evaluation, and test engineering teams to bring designs to silicon.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred skills:

  • Minimum: 7+ years' CMOS design experience.
  • Deep understanding of circuits such as wide-bandwidth amplifiers, comparators, switched-capacitor circuits, precision voltage and current references, and LDOs.
  • Proven ability in transistor-level circuit design and trade-off analysis.
  • Experience with Cadence schematic capture and SPICE simulation tools.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB for behavioral modeling.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in large teams.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with high-speed data converter or SerDes PHY design.
  • Nice-to-have: signal-processing knowledge related to calibration algorithms.
