Job Title

Staff Memory Circuit Design Engineer

Role Summary

Join Broadcom's Central Engineering Group as a memory circuit design engineer focused on development of memory compilers and custom memory macros at advanced process nodes. The role works across circuit design, verification, layout integration, characterization and silicon debug to deliver physical memory macros.

Experience Level

Senior β€” requires 8+ years of related experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, verification, and integration of memory macros from schematic to silicon.

  • Analyze memory architectures and evaluate trade-offs.
  • Design memory and circuit blocks at gate and transistor level (SRAM, register files, ROM, multi-port memories).
  • Perform transistor-level simulation, post-layout extraction, and post-layout verification.
  • Floorplan and implement leafcell layouts to produce physical macros.
  • Integrate and run characterization flows to extract timing and power metrics.
  • Automate simulation, characterization and verification tasks via scripting.
  • Specify and verify behavioral and physical memory models.
  • Produce design specifications, behavioral descriptions and timing documentation.
  • Define silicon test plans, correlate silicon results to simulation, and assist in silicon debug.

Requirements

Required technical skills and attributes; items below list core requirements first and additional positives second.

  • Must-have: Proven experience developing memory compilers or custom digital memory circuits (SRAMs, register files, multi-port memories, ROM).
  • Must-have: Deep understanding of transistor-level circuit behavior and device physics.
  • Must-have: Knowledge of signal integrity, EM/IR and reliability analysis; understanding of memory behavioral and physical models; familiarity with DFT and chip-level integration.
  • Must-have: Proficiency with transistor-level simulators and automation tools; scripting skills with Python or similar languages.
  • Must-have: Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills; ability to multitask and work independently.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with silicon test setups, silicon bring-up and hardware debug.

Education Requirements

Requires a BS in Electrical Engineering. The role specifies 8+ years of related professional experience.
